10th Global Conference on Buddhism

The event is presented by the Halton Peel Buddhist Society and Meditation Centre, along with over 500 participants from across the globe who assisted in bringing this event to Toronto.  It will be held at the Ontario Science Centre on June 17 & 18th. 

Leading Buddhist Philosophers, Renowned Scientists and Mental Health Professionals from across the globe will be gathering in Toronto for the 10th Global Conference on Buddhism to understand the influence of mindfulness in improving Mental Health and Well-being of the society at large.  Fifteen speakers are scheduled to attend from both the Buddhist and Scientific community. A little about our Keynote Speakers: 

Ajahn Brahm was born in London in 1951 and earned a degree in theoretical physics from Cambridge University, UK. He became a monk in 1974 in the Forest Tradition of Thailand and is today a revered spiritual teacher and guide. He is Abbot of the Buddhist Society of Western Australia in Perth.  

He has authored 4 Books including: Opening the Door Of Your Heart (a.k.a. Who Ordered this Truckload of Dung?), Mindfulness Bliss and Beyond, The Art of Disappearing and Don’t Worry Be Grumpy (a.k.a. Good? Bad? Who knows?).  His books have received wide acclaim across literary circles (See Book Review: www.wisdompubs.org/book/who-orderedtruckload-dung/praise) He is an engaging speaker and captivates audiences across the world. His last appearance at the University of Toronto in 2014 was attended by a large and diversified audience and by popular demand he is returning to Toronto.

Theo Koffler Award-Winning Social Entrepreneur and Founder of (MWB) Mindfulness Without Borders. Theo Koffler is a former corporate VP turned award-winning social entrepreneur, who passionately advocates for ‘whole-student” education, with a special focus in conflict and post-conflict countries.

Norman Farb, PhD Assistant Professor in Psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, where he directs the Regulatory and Affective Dynamics Laboratory.

Dr. Tony Toneatto, PhD Assistant Professor in Psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, where he directs the Regulatory and Affective Dynamics Laboratory.

Dr. James Austin, MD Neurologist, Researcher, and Zen Practitioner. Austin is Professor Emeritus of Neurology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
